BVHA Meeting Minutes, Apr. 11, 2010

Minutes of the meeting of Braj-Vrindavan Heritage Alliance (BVHA)

Place: Shri Radha Gokulananda Temple
Date: 11th April 2010, Sunday, 4.30 p.m

Present: Shri Krishna Gopal Gupta, Dr. Devendra Chaitanya, Shri Anant Kishor Sharan, Shri Nrishingananda Das, Smt. Malati Lata, Acharya Naresh Narayan, Swami Sevak Sharan, Acharya Shrivatsa Goswami, Shri Bal Krishna Goutam, Shri Pradyumna Pratap Singh, Shri Govind Kishor Goswami, Ram Narayan Brajwasi, Jagannath Poddar, Madhumangal Shukla, Shri Kanhaiya Gupta, Shri Ashok Gupta, Shri Vikrant Agrawal, Shri Suresh Vedpathi

The following topics were discussed in the meeting & unanimously resolved:

  • An appointment to be fixed with the Divisonal Commissioner to discuss the issues relating to protecting the cultural heritage of Vrindavan. A petition addressed to the Chief Minister is to be given to the Commissioner.

  • The making of the deep drains and sewerage system was questioned. It was argued when the small drains are not properly cleaned by the municipality then how can the deep big drains be cleaned. It will only add to the woes of the citizen of Vrindavan.

  • The trees should not be allowed to be cut when the road is broadened in Ramanreti. A separate petition should be sent to the Chief Forest Conservator of Uttar Pradesh, CC’d to Shri Jai Ram Ramesh (Central Environment Minister).

  • An integrated master plan should be made soon with the proper participation of local citizens and stake holders.

  • It was suggested that the group should talk to the temple managements where the BVH Alliance meetings are conducted to plant some trees in Vrindavan to revive the original culture of Vrindavan. If enough places are not available then at least the Tulsi plant should be planted in these temples.

  • A letter addressing to the Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh were signed by the delegates opposing governmet’s plan to open the wine shops in Dhaurera which falls in the expanded Vrindavan.

  • The tourism officer should be invited in one of the meetings to understand how the tourism department wishes to develop Vrindavan and the Braj region as a whole. It will be requested to the Tourism department to put a signage carved in stone in front of all the ghats with its name and history.

  • A Right to Information was signed by Acharya Naresh Narayan to be sent the Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India seeking information on the current repairs of the Heritage temple of Shri Govind Dev.
